Terms of use

Who you're agreeing with
Tonefield is a personal project made by Ciaran Jack in Wellington, New Zealand. It isn't a company. "We" means Ciaran Jack. By using Tonefield you agree to these terms. Contact: hello@tonefield.app.
Tonefield belongs to Ciaran Jack
The app and everything that makes it up belong to Ciaran Jack: the code, the 3D pans, environments and visuals, the sounds and how they're made, the name Tonefield and the logo, and the design of the site. You're welcome to use Tonefield, but please don't copy, scrape, resell or rebuild it, or use the name or logo for something else, without written permission.
What you make is yours
Songs, loops and videos you make in Tonefield belong to you. Share them anywhere, including on your own channels and in your own music. A mention of Tonefield is appreciated but not required.
The sounds inside your songs (Tonefield's pan tones, effects and how they're generated) stay Ciaran Jack's. You get a free, permanent licence to use them as part of anything you make in Tonefield, including commercially. What you can't do is pull the sounds out on their own, for example as a sample pack or to rebuild the instrument.
Songs and videos made by Tonefield's own composer for Tonefield's channels belong to Ciaran Jack.
When you post to the Tonefield feed, you give Ciaran Jack permission to show, play and share that post on Tonefield and on Tonefield's social media, with credit to your account name, for as long as it's posted. You can remove it at any time.
Keep the feed kind
- Only post things you made or have the right to share.
- No hateful, sexual, violent or illegal content, no spam, and no pretending to be someone else.
- Posts that break these rules may be hidden or removed, and accounts that keep breaking them may be closed. Report a post from the card, or by email.
Accounts
You need to be 13 or older to make an account or post. Keep your device's sign-in safe; you're responsible for what's posted from your account.
Free, and provided as it is
Tonefield is free to use and is still being built, so features may change, move or stop, and things may occasionally break. It's provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, Ciaran Jack isn't liable for losses from using it, including lost songs or data. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act or other New Zealand law that can't be excluded.
Credits
Tonefield uses open-source software, including three.js (MIT licence), and the Slackey typeface (SIL Open Font Licence). Thank you to their makers.
Changes and law
These terms may be updated; the date at the top shows when. New Zealand law applies.
